Music for the Mind

Becki Short: Music for the Mind practitioner, giving out instruments and songbooks to those attending
In conjunction with Home Instead Havant, OmniArts presents Music for the Mind: a FREE singing and social group for the elderly. The group is also dementia friendly, and anyone is welcome to come along – you might look after your mum, or a friend, you may know that one of your neighbours is lonely, or you may be a care/nursing home who would like to bring some residents.

Merchistoun Hall in Horndean, held on the last Wednesday of every month, from 10.15-11.45am.

This is a singing activity led by Becki Short, a trained singing teacher, to give an uplifting and fun experience. Bring the one you care for with you to a relaxed setting where they can be supported and join in. The sessions start with a gentle physical and vocal warm up, and instruments are handed round. Attendees choose songs from the songbook, and we sing and play them, with a short tea break, and a vocal cool down at the end of the session. Every session is relaxed, and flows organically with those attending. Sometimes there is reminiscing and story telling, sometimes dancing, and sometimes attendees bring their own musical talents to light as well!
